To clear some things up.....

When I say only car "legal" to the rules everyone was to follow I mean that.... What I found out after the races is that at the MMSA rules meeting Tony Barhorst showed up and it was asked if TQ tires would be allowed and he said yes..... But this was never posted anywhere as far as I can tell.... Sorry for this misunderstanding. I guess I learn quiet a bit after the race is over.... Oh well on to the new year and getting cars ready for the 2012 season

First night of racing at Ft. Wayne

Well what can I say about tonight!!!! First off I had an absolute blast. Running indoors in a new animal but it was a great one.

Qualifying was a distaster, we ended up 3rd but I left a lot in the car. Lynn Ambrose ended up quick time, Doug Jones was second I was third and Colin Parker was fourth.

Heat race they did a four invert and it pretty much went single file with Colin Parker won and I finished 2nd and Collin Ambrose was third I believe.

Feature they did a six invert. When we rolled on the track we learned that the race would be cut down to 15 laps, and really no reason why. I got collected in Colin Parker spinning went to the back and ran up to 2nd. If we had a full 30 laps I think we could have had something for Lynn Ambrose.

Tomorrow is another day and I think we have a good shot! I will keep everyone updated as best as I can but with Joe running midgets it's been quiet busy!

Rumble upright mini feature

Lynn Ambrose took the checkers leading flag to flag for the 15 lap event but it was the driving of Lynsey Tilton that provided the most excitement by working her way from 5th to 2nd in the nine car field. The 17 of Kyle McIntosh and the 37 of Doug Jones battled back and forth during the race for the second and third spot but in the end it was Tilton overcoming them both. Becca Stiefel finished 5th.

Lap one of the first 600 heat and Ben in the 00 got together with the 55 on the backstretch taking out the the fencing and most of the photographer stand. No one hurt but now some downtime to fix

Well first night of practice is now complete. We have about 10 cars here. Fast cars include Lynn Ambrose and myself. There are some interesting set-ups going but I believe our traditional set up is going to be fast.

Special Requests?

Besides safe and close, clean racing (if clean racing is possible indoors) my wish for the weekend would be for the pit pass buying fans to allow Tony Stewart to be a racer. I accept the fanaticals in the stands and I am sure that Tony does also, but the pit area is the pit area...reserved for racers, crew and those with respect enough to let the man enjoy his weekend as a racer. Afterall, he is just as human as you and I. Sure, the difference is that he is a very successful driver and businessman. But, there are other successful drivers and businessmen in the Rumble pit area also. This is a weekend to re-fuel the "racing tank" in us all and enjoy what is normally reserved for the sunny outdoors. It will be rough and tumble and tempers will flare (probably just once) but in the end the men and women behind the steering wheels and behind the wrenches will have satisfied the "racing bug" enough to get them through (at least til the Chili Bowl!). Enjoy the weekend and allow Tony to enjoy his.

With years of indoor karting experience, I will also be updating all of you with the goings on during the Friday session. We had planned to race an upright with a 600 but just didn't alow enough time to get a car ready that has been sitting for a few years. We will do our best to coordinate with Lynsey to give you the best coverage of the results as well as some stories on the personalities in the pit area. It's almost time to "Rumble".

Quick Introduction to Lynsey Tilton

For those that do not know me, my name is Lynsey Tilton. I will be doing my best to keep you up to date on what is happening in Ft. Wayne. I am orginally from San Diego where I was born and raised. I have been racing since I was 4 years old and I am now 25, so 21 years now. I started out on motorcycles, moved to BMX at age 6 where I was able to capture multiple National Championship and one World Championship. At 9 years old I moved to go-karts where I was a local and national champion, along with a factory driver for Alex Barron in 125 shifters at age of 15. When I was 17 years old (2004) I switched to Dirt Midgets with Arizona Midget Racing Association. I was rookie of the year and finished 3rd in points in my first full season of midgets.

I graduated high school in 2005 and moved out to Indianapolis to attend IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis) for Mechanical Engineering Technologies. From 2005-2008 I ran Ford Focus/Midgets/Sprints Cars throughout the Midwest on pavement and dirt. In late 2008 my dad was dignoised with Leukemia (Been in recovery for 4 years now) but at that time I went to 600 uprights running for Jack Shipman. From there I started running 1000cc mini sprints with MMSA. I havent had the best of luck the last couple of years but looking forward to turning that around here at Ft. Wayne.

I have never ran Ft. Wayne or anything indoors so this will be a new experience. I do have a good crew under me which I am hoping will help me with the transition indoors. Joe Liguori and my dad will be wrenching on the car. Joe has multiple years of experience running midgets at Ft. Wayne so I am hoping his knowledge will help a lot. I will try and keep everyone up to date as much as possible

Less than a Week Away

Ft. Wayne is only a few days away and anticipation is starting to set in. My car got pretty much finished up last night with just a nut and bolt check left before the car is on the track. I am excited to see the mini sprints added to the schedule and I hope that we put on a great show and they are welcomed back next year.

I have been going to Ft. Wayne for the past couple of years helping my boyfriend, Joe Liguori in the midgets. I can not thank him enough for all the work he has done on my car to get it ready for this race. Long story short we were not going to run until we were in Florida for Thanksgiving and decided that we were going to run this event. Problem was we had no engine for the car. We blew up two motors last year and after the second motor we decided to take a break and get reorganized. So we were in Florida trying to find an engine. We got the engine about 2 weeks ago, and got everything running and finished up this last weekend.

I think we will have a really good car for this race. I will try and keep everyone up to date as best as I can. Along with the mini sprint stuff, Joe will be running a midget so our night could be a little crazy but I will try my best.
